Responsibilities:
Provides strategic and tactical operational support to Senior Management regarding Industrial Relations issues.
Promotes and maintains harmonious Company/Union relationships.
Ensures proper administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Crafts language to encompass both the spirit and intent of Supplemental Agreements (Letters of Agreement; Memorandums of Understanding).
Determines interpretation of Collective Bargaining Agreement, consistent with both the spirit and intent of the Parties.
Ensures consistent implementation of Company Rules of Conduct and Xerox Code of Conduct.
Conducts timely Grievance Hearings to address/resolve issues regarding Bargaining Unit Employees. Prepare Grievance Answers (IR Manager at Third Step / Corporate IR Manager at Fourth Step).
Coordinate investigations, including those with OGC, regarding policy violations, Open Door, EEOC Complaints, Harassment Allegations, etc.
Prepare and represent company in for Arbitration Hearings; develop theory of case, strategy, investigate, interview witnesses; marshal evidence and testimony.
Represent the Company in Unemployment and Workers Compensation Hearings.
Advises Management regarding the development, application and interpretation of labor relations policies, practices and procedures.
Administers various human resource policies and procedures that pertain to Industrial Relations, including Grievance Process; Performance Improvement and termination of Bargaining Unit Employees.
Researches and analyzes various types of Industrial Relations related information and data.
Develops and provides training in specific areas and for specific audiences (supervisors), as appropriate (Supervisory Training; Code of Conduct Training; Sexual Harassment Training; Workplace Violence Training, etc.).
Monitors implementation of policies regarding wages, hours and conditions of employment, in order to ensure compliance with contract provisions and State and Federal Labor Laws.
Lead the development of the negotiations strategy and negotiates all labor contracts, both inMonroeCountyand in the Field.
Provides direction to IR Managers, both inMonroeCountyand in the Field.
Requirements:
BA/BS degree required; MS degree in Industrial Relations and/orJuris Doctor (JD) preferred.
Five years of experience in Labor and Employment law .
Litigation experience / Arbitration experience.
Strong negotiation skills and experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Has a working knowledge of information technology, including hardware and software applications utilized in Human Resources and Payroll functions.
Ability to prepare written reports, correspondence and presentations, as required.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and to make decisions in a manner consistent with established Company policy and Labor and Employment laws.
Ability to identify opportunities, diagnose problems and develop solutions.
Ability to manage and administer a broad range of tasks including counseling managers and employees on the interpretation of policies, procedures and contract language.
