Summary

As a member of the Oracle database team, this individual will be responsible for design, implementing, deployment, and support all Oracle database related part of the application that is build internally within XLS. This individual will interface with employees in the Development, Operations and Client Services groups. This individual will also need to interface with others cross-functionally through the company as needed. Responsibilities cover the entire life cycle of software development starting from architecting, designing, documenting, developing, testing, deploying, and post production support the application.


Responsibilities

1) Understand our customer and their needs.
2) Support existing database platform while developing new features and new applications that will support the growth of our business.
3) Design, document, implement, debug and unit test software for new and existing database applications.
4) Production application support that requires off hours support.
5) Participate in code reviews.
6) Respond to critical performance problems immediately.
7) Collaborate with software team members to solve problems.
8) Maintain a thorough understanding of the current system.
9) Work with the team to identify areas for process improvement.
10) Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Qualifications

1) 3+ years of experience as a developer on Oracle 10g platform in a UNIX environment.
2) Sound understanding of Oracle architecture.
3) Strong SQL, PL/SQL skills. C, Java or Perl a plus.
4) Oracle performance tuning skill specifically in the area of SQL Tuning.
5) Basic Unix/Linux and shell script skills.
6) Minimum BA/BS Degree in IT, CS, or a related field.
7) In depth knowledge of software development methodologies and sound coding practices.
8) Excellent design, analytical, and problem solving skills.
9) Experience with large scale databases, preferably multi-Terabyte.
10) Experience with Oracle Text a strong plus.
11) Ability to work on multiple tasks at once. Self driven and flexible with working hours.
12) Experience with source control tools, Perforce a plus, but at least have used one such as: SVN, CVS, PVCS, ClearCase etc.
13) Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate to different technical level of audiences is a must. Active listening and the ability to present complex ideas in concise written and verbal descriptions so that they are easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences
14) The ability to work cross-functionally and interface with other departments to accomplish a task.
15) Ability to work with deadlines in a fast paced environment.
16) Excellent interpersonal skills.
