Job Description
TheXeroxResearchCenter, Websteris seeking researchers in the area ofSocial Computing. Our lab builds and studies forms of social software, including technologies that help people collaborate and share knowledge. Fundamental areas of research interest include but not limited to game theory analysis, user-generated content, social networks, web mining, and collaborative work flows.

Applicants must have a strong background in social software design and analysis, and deep expertise in one or more relevant mechanism design areas, including, but not limited to, auction marketplaces, recommendation systems, user-generated content-management systems (such as blogs or wikis), trust algorithms, network science, Web UIs, online collaborative systems, Semantic Web, virtual worlds, and workflow languages/tools. The applicant must demonstrate the state-of-the-art knowledge and presence in the research and/or entrepreneurial community in this area.

Applicants should also have strong skills in software engineering particularly in the area of Web development, including hands-on skills in scripting languages (such as Javascript, Python, PHP and Ruby on Rails), traditional languages such as Java or C#, unit testing practice, databases and object-oriented development.

Role/Responsibilities: Invent, design and prototype novel next-generation social and web technoogies. Work with existing intrapreneurship teams to develop and help commercialize highly user-centric, adaptive, and robust Web systems.
Requirements:
A Ph.D. in computer-science or related field or an MS or BS with equivalent work experience, and with a strong record of scholarship or entrepreneurship
Research or entrepreneurial experience with one or more social computing technologies, including, but not limited to, social networks, recommendation systems and user-generated content systems
A deep understanding of web and distributed systems technologies such as LAMP, J2EE and .NET, and architectural paradigms such as SaaS,AJAXand REST.
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
